South Africa have named a black hooker in their squad for their forthcoming tour of Ireland and Britain.
The Soweto-based Golden Lions forward Owen Nkumane is among 13 uncapped players chosen by the coach Nick Mallett in a squad of 36 for a tour which includes four Tests.
Two coloured players, the wings Breyton Paulse and Deon Kayser, have also been selected by the world champions.
The Springboks play their first Test against Wales at Wembley on November 14th and meet Ireland at Lansdowne Road on November 28th.
