South Africa's most capped player, James Small, returns to make his 41st test appearance in the Tri-Nations match against New Zealand in Auckland on Saturday.

The recall of Small, who came on as fullback replacement during South Africa's 32-20 defeat by Australia in Brisbane last Saturday, was one of four changes made by coach Carel du Plessis. He takes over the right wing position from Andre Snyman who has been switched to the left wing in place of Pieter Rossouw.

Henry Honiball comes in at inside centre for the injured Danie van Schalkwyk and hooker Naka Drotske makes way for James Dalton.

Tighthead prop Marius Hurter is recalled in place of Dawie Theron. Uncapped utility back Joe Gillingham has also been called up.
