GALWAY SFC SEMI-FINALS:FORMER WOLVES soccer player Seamie Crowe blasted home 2-5 as Salthill-Knocknacarra reached their first county final in seven years with a 3-10 to 0-10 win over Killererin.
The 2006 All-Ireland club champions led by 1-5 to 0-6 at half-time thanks to a goal from former Galway hurler David Tierney.
Padraic Joyce blasted a penalty off the woodwork for Killererin before Crowe pushed the seasiders further in front when he slotted home a 48th minute penalty and there was really no way back for the 2010 champions after that.
In the other semi-final, reigning champions Corofin, bidding to reach their fifth final in a row, were sent crashing out at as brothers Conor and Paul Doherty fired home goals for Tuam Stars for a 2-6 to 0-9 victory yesterday.
Corofin, winners of 11 Galway titles in the last 21 years, did not get their first score until two minutes from the interval, by which time Conor Doherty’s goal had put Tuam 1-3 to 0-0 in front.
While Corofin staged a good rally in the second half, they were unable to snatch an equalising goal in the closing stages.
