Salthill Devon 1 Sheriff YC 2:SHERIFF YC delivered a fine performance to spring a mild upset in the west.

William Molloy and David Browne both went close with early headers for the gritty visitors. But Salthill could also have scored in the first half and Victor Collins and the pacy Etanda Nkololo were unlucky not to net for the home side.

After 52 minutes Sheriff pinched a goal when John Rock glanced a header home following a long Stephen Murphy throw-in.

Rock was in the groove and the striker converted an Alan McCabe assist in the 61st minute.

Devon got a late consolation in the 75th minute when Paddy Quinlan headed a Gerry Dolan corner into the roof of the net.
