Sasuru, winner of the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown in April and the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp the following month, will be out of action for the remainder of this season.

The Geoff Wragg-trained four-year-old has not run since finishing last behind Pilsudski in the Coral-Eclipse in July and, after suffering an injury, the son of Most Welcome has been put away until next year.

Wragg said: "Sasuru has a slight problem behind. It is not too bad, but it means he will not be able to race again this season. The plan is to keep him in training as a five-year-old."

The Newmarket-based handler is hopeful that Rebecca Sharp, seventh behind Spinning World in last Sunday's Prix du Moulin at Longchamp, will be able to take her chance in the Group One Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on September 27th.

He said: "They went terribly quickly in France and her run just petered out. But the first two (Helissio finished second) are very good and it was no disgrace to be beaten by them. I am still planning to run Rebecca Sharp at Ascot."

Wragg also had news of St Radegund, successful in a maiden at Goodwood in May, but sidelined after fracturing a leg while exercising in June.

"She has already had three operations and now has just one more hurdle to cross. The vets have taken some pins out of her leg and put her back in plaster," he explained. "That is due to come off in two or three weeks and, assuming all goes well at that stage, she should at least be saved as a broodmare."

Far Ahead, winner of last month's Tote Ebor, will miss the Ayr Western Meeting. Trainer Les Eyre has decided to give the five-year-old "a break and let him down for a while. When I bring him back, I may see whether he gets two miles."
