Cameroon were held to a 0-0 draw by Austria in a lacklustre performance by the African Nations Cup champions in Vienna last night.

Austria - 0, Cameroon - 0

Cameroon's German coach Winfried Schafer extended his unbeaten run to 11 matches, but he appeared frustrated with his team's apathetic display and was warned by the fourth official to remain within his designated area after one touchline outburst.

After a quiet opening, Mark Vivien Foe wasted a good chance for Cameroon on 22 minutes when the Austrian defence gave him too much space but he shot wide, Marseille midfielder Salomon Olembe's under-powered shot from a good position was another disappointment for the reigning Olympic champions on the half-hour mark.

After a second half played in steady rain, Cameroon had a close escape when Rene Aufhauer missed the target with a close-range header 10 minutes from the end.
