RACING NEWS: THE FOURTH instalment of what is turning into a momentous season for Sea The Stars looks to be on with ground conditions set to be ideal for the John Oxx-trained superstar in tomorrow's Juddmonte International at York.

The 2,000 Guineas, Derby and Eclipse winner will face just four opponents, headed by Aidan O’Brien’s Mastercraftsman.

The Ballydoyle hope will be joined by stable companions Georgebernardshaw and Set Sail. The sole British contender is Michael Stoute’s Tartan Bearer.

Crucially, though, the going at York appears to be ideal with good to firm ground forecast.

That delighted Oxx yesterday, and he reported: “I imagine it will be ideal. The track is fair and looks very suitable. He will travel to York on Monday and stay overnight at the racecourse. We will leave tactics to Mick (Kinane).”

The going will be very different at Roscommon this evening as the meeting survived an inspection yesterday morning.

But a testing surface should hold no fears for Tovaria, who is 6lb higher in the ratings for beating Munnings on similar ground at the Curragh last month.

Fingal Rock is a danger but is over a stone higher for an easy win at Ballinrobe.

The country’s top two amateur riders, Nina Carberry and Patrick Mullins, look set to dominate the bumper, and Carberry’s mount Dumitas is bred to act on soft ground and can beat the Downpatrick winner Dare To Doubt.
