England's Justin Rose is among seven players who have earned late invitations to next week's Masters.
Rose, who has pulled out of his last three scheduled events because of back trouble, and Americans Paul Goydos and Bart Bryant qualify by being the three golfers among today's world top 50 who were not already exempt for Augusta.
The other four - Charles Howell, John Rollins, Aaron Baddeley and Mark Calcavecchia - qualified on Sunday night by being in the US Tour's top 10 after the CA World Championship in Miami.
The most relieved was unquestionably Calcavecchia. The former Open champion putted in the lake on the last hole for a quadruple bogey eight, but then discovered he had dropped only from seventh to ninth on the money list.
Although not confirmed until today, Rose's place was secure from the time he knocked out Phil Mickelson in reaching the quarter-finals of the Accenture World Match Play Championship in Tucson last month.
Assuming he is fit enough to play, it will be the 26-year-old's first trip there since he led at halfway in 2004 and then crashed out of contention with a third-round 81 which he admitted left him "shellshocked".
