CYCLING:Irish riders took points which will help towards Olympic qualification when they performed strongly in the Class 1 UCI mountainbike cross-country race held in Buyukada, Istanbul yesterday, writes Shane Stokes.

Multiple Irish champion Robin Seymour won the men's race, beating his compatriot Niall Davis.

Conor McConvey and Peter Buggle also performed well, taking fifth and eighth.

The women also finished to the fore, with Tarja Owens taking second and Ciara McManus fourth.

Meanwhile Conor Murphy and Usher IRC team-mate Neil Delahaye took first and second in the Coombe Connor Memorial in Drogheda yesterday, with young Adam Petrie Armstrong (Northern CC) third.
