Four shots off the pace going into the last round Gareth Shaw (Lurgan) left the best golf to last when a final round of three-under-par 70 gave him his first Leinster Boys' Championship at Co Meath last week.

Shaw, who won the Leinster Under-15 title at The Island last year, trailed third-round leader David Rawluk (The Island) by four shots but as those in front faltered Shaw saw his chance of a second Leinster crown.

Rawluk, in fact, was one shot ahead with two holes to play but he had a bogey at the 17th, where he was in heavy rough off the tee, and a double bogey at the last where again he found trouble with his tee shot.

Finishing in a bush Rawluk was unable to get home in three while Ray Williams (Lurgan) and Kenny Fahy (Connemara) took the minor places.
