Bridget McMillan's introduction to the women of Hazel Grove Golf Club was in their RPI charity day last May when she walked away with two raffle prizes. The prizes these days are of a different kind. Bridget, a former international ten-pin bowler, took up golf with great gusto last June and in this year's first medal competition, playing to a handicap of 36, she shot a staggering nett 60 (14-under-par), which not only won her the medal but also gave her an immediate reduction of five shots in handicap. Bridget's sights are now firmly set on getting her handicap down further as she heads into her first full golfing season.

Meanwhile, the Loughnane Sisters Trophy is on at Birr tomorrow. Sisters who would like to team up are invited to the Offaly venue where all proceeds go to the local St Vincent de Paul. Time sheet is still available at Birr Golf Club.
