Racing: The Turf Club's Appeals & Referrals Committee yesterday disqualified two winners trained by "Dusty" Sheehy in February under the prohibited substance rules.
The high-class Rathgar Beau was thrown out of first place in the Red Mills Chase at Gowran on February 14th and Paddy's Girl lost a handicap hurdle success at Thurles on February 1st. Both horses tested positive for the banned substance phenylbutazone.
Sheehy was fined €130 for each offence but the fines were waived by the committee who were satisifed he had administered the substances unknowingly.
The Tony Mullins-trained Barrow Drive has been promoted to first in the Red Mills Chase and Cotton Picker at Thurles.
The opening mile and a quarter fillies maiden at Clonmel today includes representatives from the the three major flat yards in the country and it could be that Dermot Weld's Khulasah is the one to win a fascinating little contest. The Darshaan filly was a two-length second to Offenbach on her only start last November, a performance which probably leaves her with something to find against the 96-rated Oh So Precious from Ballydoyle. Sahara Sonnet represents John Oxx but Khalusah should have improved from two to three.
