Bryan Shelbourne struck five penalties in Galwegians' dramatic injury-time win over previously unbeaten UCD at the Belfield Bowl on Saturday.
When he wasn't nicking ball from the highly-rated Brian O'Riordan at the base of a UCD scrum, he was putting his willing pack of forwards on the front foot with some deft tactical kicking.
Nonetheless, he had to wait until the 31st minute to whip over his first penalty. Two more quickly followed in the 35th and 37th minutes as Galwegians went in at the break 9-6 ahead.
The kicks continued to find their target until UCD captain Shane Moore twisted his way over for the first try of the game. Hickey's conversion made it 16-12.
Shelbourne's conversion from a penalty try was quickly followed by a Hickey penalty. However, Shelbourne hammered the final nail into the students' coffin with his trusty right boot.
