Shelbourne discovered yet again last night that their path to this year's FAI Cup final will be a thorny one when they were drawn away to Derry City in the quarter-finals.

After being required to beat Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians to reach the last eight, they now face possibly their most difficult task of all.

The tie is a repeat of the 1995 final which Derry won 21 thanks to goals from Stuart Gauld and Peter Hutton and the dimensions of the task are not lost on Shelbourne manager Dermot Keely.

"It's never been easy for any visiting team to win at the Brandywell and with Derry now beginning to get it together under Kevin Mahon, this will be no different."
