John Walsh and Marian Byrne are the top pitch and putt players in the country. Walsh who plays out of Collins, Cork, consistent form over the past three years sees him top the men's ranking. A winner of the Munster Strokeplay championship in 1966, John was also runner up in the All-Ireland Championship. He retained his Munster title in 1997 and was crowned All-Ireland champion at Seapoint, while later helping Cork to the Inter County title.
Marian Byrne (St Brigid's, Kilcullen) captained Kildare to the All-Ireland title. She won the Kildare Matchplay and Strokeplay titles this year and her place at the top of the Women's rankings was confirmed by her superb win in the National Matchplay finals. Marian is also an excellent golfer and is a member of the Curragh Senior Cup squad.
