Cricket News: Six young Irish female cricketers have been selected to take part in the inaugural European Cricket Council's Women's Cricket Academy which will take place in Scotland in August. Included is Gwen Morgan, sister of Irish senior men's international Eoin.

The event is an opportunity for talented young players to experience top coaches and specialists in an intensive training camp environment. The 23 participants range in age from 15-21 and come from the top three ICC Associate nations in Europe, Scotland, Ireland and the Netherlands.

The five-day event, hosted by Cricket Scotland and sponsored by Lloyds TSB, will be the first time young girls and women from any of the ICC's 86 associate and affiliate members will be exposed to intensive, elite coaching in an academy setting.

Taking place at Fettes College in Edinburgh, Scotland, from August 7th to 11th, the academy has been deemed as a regional high-performance programme event by the ICC and so has been limited to players from the three most highly developed associate countries in the region.
