For the fourth time in the last six years, a new name went on the Meath Senior Football Championship roll of honour as the 1999 beaten finalists, Dunshaughlin, turned on the style in the decider in Navan yesterday. Eamon Barry's charges were in control except for a short spell towards the end of the opening quarter when Ray McGee netted twice in quick succession.
After seven minutes, mid-fielder Graham Dowd had moved forward to fist a perfectly placed Richie Kealy sideline kick to the net to leave Dunshaughlin 1-2 to 0-0 to the good.
Indeed, with county player Kealy in tremendous form and brother Dermot, the captain, dominating around the halfway line, Dunshaughlin soon recovered from the double blow to stamp their authority on the contest. Sending over seven points in a row they led by 1-11 to 2-1 at the break. Richie Kealy was involved in six scores in that period, getting three of them and setting up two more. At the end, Dunshaughlin had six Kealy brothers on the pitch.
