Sligo IT ... 2-8 DCU ... 1-3Gerry Lohan took the scoring honours as Sligo IT overcame the first obstacle to their bid for the Sigerson Cup.
The Roscommon star put the IT 1-2 to 0-1 ahead after 13 minutes of the first half of a mediocre quarter-final at Markievicz Park, drilling a Rory Gallagher cross to the DCU net. Points from Nicholas Joyce set the home side up for a 1-5 to 0-1 interval lead.
Brian Sheehan opened the second half, scoring with a DCU point. However, three unanswered IT points, between the 43rd and 50th minutes, put the home side 2-8 to 1-2 in front and there was no way back for DCU.
Ronnie Carroll had scored DCU's goal, but Sligo IT never lost control of the game.
