UCD 0 Sligo Rovers 2:Second-half goals from captain Adam Hughes and Matthew Judge maintained Sligo's revival under manager Paul Cook with their first league win at Belfield since 1982 - and their third successive win over Dublin opposition - lifting them to sixth place in the Premier Division table.

Though Sligo started purposefully, passing the ball well, it was UCD who created the few clear-cut chances of a very tight first half.

Richard Brush had to make the first save of the night when tipping over UCD captain Tony McDonnell's snap half-volley from 20 yards following Conor Sammon's lay-off.

And the home side finished the half the stronger with Paul Byrne having the ball in the Sligo net on 39 minutes, only for an assistant's flag being raised to rule it out for an offside.

Well-worked and clinically finished, the lead arrived on 48 minutes. Chris Turner and Judge worked the ball through for the run of Hughes and the Australian shot past Matt Gregg for his first goal of the season.

UCD responded quickly and Sammon brought a good save from Brush with a low drive. And Brush was in action again just past the hour mark when he saved at the second attempt after Shane McFaul's volley from the edge of the area came back off a post.

But another well-taken goal killed off the UCD revival on 75 minutes. With the help of a good advantage from referee Mark Gough, Turner flicked on a long clearance to put Judge through on goal from the halfway line.

The striker still had plenty to do, but kept his head well to take the ball around Gregg and a defender before firing home.
