Sligo IT 0-6 UCC 0-5:Paul Finlay took centre stage with a dramatic late point as Sligo IT were crowned champions for the first time in the college's history at the weekend.
Markievicz Park was the scene of unbridled joy as hundreds of IT supporters revelled in their team's win over a fancied UCC side.
The aftereffects of the previous day's semi-final exertions, when they dispatched reigning champions University of Ulster, was evident in the Corkmen's performance, which lacked the grit and never-say-die spirit displayed against UUJ.
Finlay opened the Sligo account after 14 minutes of the first half, he squared the match at 0-5 apiece in the51st minute from another free, and the Ballybay man, playing in his first Sigerson Cup, won the game four minutes from time.
Galway's Nicholas Joyce, a first cousin of county star Padraig, was a constant threat at left corner forward and scored from play two minutes into stoppage time to give Sligo a 0-4 to 0-3 interval lead.
Conrad Murphy levelled for the Munster men after 36 minutes and a fine block by UCC goalkeeper Cian Kelleher prevented a Paul Finlay goal after 42 minutes.
Substitute David Barden had another goal chance blocked by the UCC defence shortly afterwards.
Murphy put UCC ahead on 45 minutes before Finlay squared the match to set up a gripping finish .
