Longford Town 1 Sligo Rovers 1:Longford's recent run of good form was halted somewhat as a storming second half performance from Sligo helped them to chalk up a well deserved share of the spoils in Flancare Park.

While the home side were the better team for much of the opening half, they failed to create many clear-cut chances.

However, with Dave Mooney in the form of his life it came as no surprise when the striker bagged his 14th league goal of the season in the 29th minute.

Mark Rutherford, who was narrowly off target earlier, was Mooney's provider and the goal seemed to kick Longford into life.

But this game was never straightforward and Sligo thought they had equalised on the stroke of half-time.

Matthew Gordon headed home after Shay Kelly could only parry a thunderous strike form Adam Hughes. However, the goal was ruled out for off-side.

Sligo were far superior in the early second half exchanges and did get back on terms in the 63rd minute.

Farodin Kudozovic played a perfect pass to Adam Hughes and the striker's finish was right out of the top drawer.

It was no less than Sligo deserved. They continued to dominate proceedings and looked much likelier scorers as the half progressed.

However, Longford could have grabbed a winner in the 75th minute.

Dessie Baker, who was played in by goal scorer Mooney, saw his well struck shot deflected out for a corner by Richard Brush in the Sligo goal.

Longford remain bottom of the table while Sligo are now one point behind Bohemians in fifth place.
