Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer has been released from hospital after suffering a stroke on Easter Sunday. The 78-year-old, who took control of the Old Trafford outfit in a £790 million buyout last summer, was admitted to the Cleveland Clinic in Florida on April 16th.
He has now been allowed to leave hospital, although a statement released on behalf of his son Joel has confirmed Glazer is still suffering from impaired speech and a lack of mobility in his right arm and leg.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) has told world soccer's governing body Fifa their anti-doping regulations do not correspond fully to those of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The court added, however, that Fifa are not legally obliged, under Swiss law, to modify any of their existing rules.
Fifa and Wada both made separate applications for an advisory opinion from the court following years of wrangling over the differences in their respective rules.
Fifa have yet to fully sign up to the Wada code, the main sticking point being their unwillingness to agree that a first offence by a player should automatically attract a two-year ban.
Issuing its non-binding 68-page opinion yesterday, Cas disagreed with Fifa's argument that full adoption of the Wada ruling on first offences would be in violation of Swiss law.
The court also pointed out that while Fifa were not legally obliged to change their regulations, they ran the risk of seeing soccer removed from the Olympic programme if they did not incorporate the Wada code into their statutes.
Luis Felipe Scolari's representatives have said he will turn down the English FA if they offer him the England job before the World Cup. Scolari wants to take over after this summer's tournament but only on his terms, which will mean postponing talks until July and undermining the whole process of finding Sven-Goran Eriksson's successor.
The FA had hoped to be in a position to make an announcement within the next week but that might now be delayed until they clarify Scolari's exact position and decide whether it is worth trying to talk him round. The Brazilian has sizeable support within Soho Square and is regarded as Steve McClaren's strongest challenger for the job.
