Celtic winger Didier Agathe will be out for up to three months after sustaining ligament damage against Hearts on Saturday.
Agathe will have a scan today to examine the full extent of the injury, which comes in the week of a double-header against Valencia in the UEFA Cup and Old Firm rivals Rangers. But manager Martin O'Neill admits he does not expect to see the player back until early next year.
Paul Gascoigne still hopes to earn an extension to his contract at Everton, which expires next summer, despite offers to finish his playing career in the United States or Australia.
The 34-year-old former England midfielder, who has played seven times this season, will take advice from his manager Walter Smith before deciding.
"I've been offered contracts in various parts of the world, places where I could just go and enjoy myself, but I am really enjoying it here at Everton," said Gascoigne. "If the boss says I deserve a new contract and should stay, then I will."
Des Walker will end his 17-year career in English football in March with a move to play for the Major League Soccer club, New York Metrostars.
Walker, 36, capped 59 times by England, joined Burton Albion last month after being released by Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.
