Winners await fate Thirteen players in Italy's World Cup-winning squad are currently under contract with the clubs involved in the Italian sporting fraud trial.
Real Madrid have confirmed their interest in signing Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluca Zambrotta and Emerson from Juventus. Real are also interested in signing the Brazilian Kaka from Milan.
A few players have indicated that they will stay no matter what the verdict of the trial is. Among them are Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero and Manchester United target Gennaro Gattuso.
United have also been linked with the Brazilian goalkeeper Dida and Italian playmaker Andrea Pirlo, while the agent of the Gianluigi Buffon revealed the Juventus goalkeeper received an offer from an English side, reportedly Arsenal, while Chelsea are set to make an offer to Milan for Alessandro Nesta.
No bid for Ribery yet
Arsenal have not made a £10 million bid for Marseilles and France winger Franck Ribery, according to this agent.
The 23-year-old was an integral part of France's World Cup campaign and has also been linked to Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester United, as well as Lyons. But Bruno Heiderscheid said: "I have not met with Arsene Wenger, neither in Paris nor elsewhere, and I have not received any offers for Franck.
"Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also rumoured to be interested but I have never received any concrete offer."
Heinze happy with lot
Argentina international Gabriel Heinze "hasn't thought about leaving" Manchester United - despite apparent interest from Spain.
"Manchester United and the manager stood by me when I had a knee injury last season and couldn't play and, if they want me to continue, that is what I will do," the defender said yesterday.
There were reports on Wednesday stating Real Madrid and Barcelona were ready to make a £10-million bids to bring the 28-year-old to Spain.
United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has "no doubt" that Cristiano Ronaldo will remain with the club. The Portugal winger has been linked with a move to Real but Queiroz insists his 21-year-old compatriot is going nowhere.
According to Spanish media Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has agreed personal terms with Real, though no deal has yet been made with United.
Huth fails Boro test
Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate has admitted the club will not be signing Robert Huth.
Chelsea's 21-year-old Germany international failed a medical because of an ankle problem, and Middlesbrough have dropped their interest as a result.
Southgate said: "It's a great shame for everyone involved that Robert won't be joining us at the present time."
Huth is now expected to return to Stamford Bridge.
Allardyce vexed
Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has rounded on Dietmar Hamann after his move to Manchester City.
Hamann changed his mind about joining Wanderers after leaving Liverpool. The German midfielder instead signed a deal at City, who paid £400,000 compensation to Bolton.
Allardyce said: "Hamann has disappointed me for two reasons . . . the player and his agent resurrected the interest in Bolton at the end of last season . Secondly, he didn't tell the full story when he tried to get out of the agreement he had with us."
Celtic target Tristan
Celtic have identified Deportivo La Coruna striker Diego Tristan (30) as a possible replacement for John Hartson. But the Scottish champions face stiff competition in the shape of Portuguese giants Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.
Deportivo president Augusto Lendoiro said: "The interest from Benfica is certain, as is that from Sporting Lisbon and Celtic."
