Soccer:Manchester City's new record signing Sergio Aguero believes the club will be contenders for major honours in the near future.
The Argentina international completed his €40million transfer from Atletico Madrid yesterday evening, signing a five-year deal, and immediately set his sights on bringing more silverware to the Etihad Stadium.
Roberto Mancini's side ended the club's 35-year wait for a trophy by lifting the FA Cup in May, while a third-placed top-flight finish put them into the Champions League for the first time.
Aguero, winner of the 2010 Europa League with Atletico, believes the club are heading in only one direction.
"I saw the game (FA Cup final) and I think we are a team that in the future will be fighting every year to win major trophies," said the 23-year-old. "Let's hope that it's quite a few major trophies."
Aguero does not reckon he will have any problems adapting to English football.
"I think in terms of technique the leagues are similar. Maybe the game is more physical in England and there is a greater emphasis on tactics in Spain," he added on mcfc.co.uk.
"From what I've seen on TV there is a high level of skill here. It is quite different but I need to wait for my first game, go out and do my best and find out for real what it's like, because playing is not the same as watching it on TV.
"My style has always been to fight to the death for every ball, and give 100 per cent in every game. I'm not a player who can do everything, but I still have plenty to offer.
"I don't think I'll have too many problems settling into the team."
Aguero becomes manager Mancini's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Arsenal defender Gael Clichy and Partizan Belgrade's Stefan Savic, and takes the Italian's spending in this window to €52million.
The arrival of Diego Maradona's son-in-law comes with City still trying to solve the problem of wantaway striker Carlos Tevez.
Tevez is adamant he wants to leave to be nearer his wife and two daughters in Argentina, though with a move to former club Corinthians breaking down before the close of the Brazilian transfer window it appears he will consider a move to Europe.
Inter Milan seem the only club likely to be able to afford him but director Marco Branca insisted they had no plans to sign the 27-year-old Argentina international after he was pictured meeting Tevez on holiday in Sardinia.
"There was only one meeting, and it was entirely fortuitous and enjoyable," he said. "But it happened on the beach and was not followed up."
