Nicolas Anelka hopes to complete his switch from Bolton to Chelsea this week, according to the striker's agent.
Anelka is waiting for Chelsea to make an improved offer for him after the Blues had their first bid, believed to be £11million, rejected on Monday.
Bolton boss Gary Megson is still hoping to retain the services of Anelka but Doug Pingisi, the player's advisor, claims his client has his sights set on Stamford Bridge.
"He really wants to go to Chelsea," Pingisi said. "Nicolas is calm. He hopes that everything will be finalised this week. He has been waiting for such an opportunity for years. He appreciates the fact that he is at the top of the list of players wanted by Chelsea at the moment.
"For Nico, it is very important he finds a club that will allow him to express himself at the highest level. Moreover, this club is still involved in every competition, particularly the Champions League."
Chelsea manager Avram Grant said on Tuesday he wanted to sign Anelka in time for Saturday's Premier League fixture against Tottenham.
