Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin has said that he is ready to turn down offers from the Premier League in favour of a move to Spain.

"I know that I have offers from England and Germany, but what I would really like is to play in the Spanish League, in the Primera Division," he told Spanish newspaper AS.

"It's the championship I've always followed, I like the football they play there.

"But, at the moment, I don't have any offers from Spain."

Meanwhile, UEFA technical director Andy Roxburgh singled out Arshavin for praise following his recent performances.

He is almost certain to be included in the 23-man squad of the tournament, selected by Roxburgh and the other eight members of the technical committee.

"Arshavin has come on the scene, he wasn't available for the first two games, and his introduction has been like a spark of magic," said Roxburgh, the former Scotland manager.

"He's ignited them, making a good team even better. To blossom the way Russia did in the last game against Holland made everyone sit up and ask if they can go all the way."
