Atletico Madrid say reported Manchester United target Fernando Torres is not for sale. The highly-talented Spanish international hitman, nicknamed 'El Nino', was linked once again with the Old Trafford giants over the weekend.
According to the English tabloids United had already been in talks with Atletico, with a view to a possible swap deal involving Ruud van Nistelrooy. A fee of £14million plus van Nistelrooy was mentioned, which would take the total package for Torres to more than £26million.
But Atletico president Enrique Cerezo says the club does not want to sell Torres, and hasn't received any offers for the 22-year-old.
He told Spanish daily Marca: "I have had no offers from Manchester or any other club for Torres.
I have been answering the same question four years and the answer remains the same - Atletico Madrid has no intention of selling Fernando Torres."
Torres has also been linked with a move to Arsenal as a possible replacement for Thierry Henry if he were to join Barcelona this summer. Chelsea and Newcastle have been linked with him in the past.
