Champions League review: Barcelona and Bayern Munich are through to the Champions League semi-finals after comfortable home wins against AC Milan and Marseille, respectively. At the Camp Nou, Lionel Messi scored twice from the penalty spot and Andres Iniesta grabbed a third to lead the Catalans into the last four for the fifth consecutive year.

Antonio Nocerino scored Milan's only goal when equalising Messi's 11th minute opener with a coolly taken finish after some good work from Brazilian Robinho. Once again, however, it was all about the dimunitive Argentinean Messi, who tortured the Milan defence, Alessandro Nesta especially, and broke Jose Atalfini’s 50-year-old record by bringing his European Cup tally for the season to 14.

Luca Antonini gave away the first spot kick when he took down Messi after the Barca attacker harried him to retrieve the ball in the box, having spurned a shot at goal to unselfishly centre.

The second was less clear cut, but the Nesta could have few complaints after hauling back Sergio Busquets when defending a corner kick four minutes from the break.

Messi again despatched from 12 yards, this time low to Christian Abbiati's left, having opted for the other side for the opener.

Milan, who needed a score draw to progress after a stalemate in Italy, were adventurous but found themselves crowded out in the final third and exposed at the back as they chased the game.

Iniesta put the result out of sight in the 53rd minute, when he pounced on Messi's deflected effort and curled the ball around Abbiati with aplomb.

Barca now await the winner of tomorrow's Stamford Bridge tie between Chelsea and Benfica, which the Londoners lead 1-0 from the first leg in Portugal.

Bayern look sure to meet Real Madrid after Ivica Olic struck twice for the Germans against Olympique Marseille. The Croat, a surprise addition in the line-up ahead of Bundesliga top scorer Mario Gomez, gave the hosts a flying start when he connected with a Franck Ribery pass in the 13th minute.

He tapped in his second after a well-timed pass from David Alaba in the 37th.

The four-time European champions should meet nine-time winners Real later this month (April 17th-18th), with the Spanish club due to host APOEL Nicosia tomorrow, holding a 3-0 advantage from the first leg in Cyprus.

Bayern, who booked their spot in the competition's last four for the second time in three seasons with their 13th win in the last 14 Champions League home games, are desperate for a final appearance that will be hosted by Munich on May 19th.
