Soccer: Barcelona's sporting vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu is confident the club still have plenty of time to secure the signing of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
The European champions have taken their time in the transfer market this summer, with their first signing that of Alexis Sanchez from Udinese on Thursday, but others are expected to follow.
At a press conference held today to formally unveil the Chile forward, Bartomeu claimed the deal for Fabregas remains in the pipeline.
"They [the talks] are going in the right direction," he said. "We will try and do what we can with the money we have. We have until August 30th to do things and I am sure we will."
Sanchez, meanwhile, is keen to avoid comparisons with Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Chilean, who signed on a five-year deal for a fee which could rise to almost €40 million, says he is keen to help bring more titles to the ultra-successful club.
Sanchez was welcomed by hundreds of Chilean fans at Barcelona's El Prat airport last night and said: "It was incredible - like a film.
"I want to learn from players like (Lionel) Messi and Xavi - and I want to help the club win more titles."
Sanchez was also questioned about the similarities in his playing style to Madrid's Ronaldo, a player he will face in next month's Supercopa.
"I respect Cristiano Ronaldo; he's a great player," he said. "But I don't want to be compared to anyone."
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old revealed coach Pep Guardiola had been instrumental in his decision to move from Udinese to Barcelona.
"He called me and that was very important for me - to know that he wanted me gave me confidence."
