Liverpool will not sell Steven Gerrard to Real Madrid, manager Rafael Benitez said today.

Gerrard was named on a list of targets presented to new president Fernando Martin by football director Benito Floro.

But Benitez, who expects to have fit-again Gerrard back for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea, said: "The situation is very clear, Steven Gerrard is not for sale."

Gerrard signed a new four-year contract last summer to end fears he would join Chelsea.
