Soccer:As Robbie Keane continues to mull over a proposed move to Birmingham, his Tottenham teammate David Bentley has made the switch to St Andrew's on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Keane, who has been told he can leave White Hart Lane, was the subject of a bid in the region of €7 million last week but has been dragging his feet with reports suggesting he is reluctant to relocate his family from London.

But the promise of first team football has seen Bentley make the move north, albeit on a temporary basis. The former Blackburn and Arsenal midfielder joined Spurs in July 2008 for a fee of €18 million, but has struggled to make an impact.

The 26-year-old underwent a medical at St Andrew’s earlier this week and has now completed a deal to join Alex McLeish’s side. Subject to his registration being accepted by the Premier League and Football Association, Bentley will be available for Sunday’s derby at home to Aston Villa.

Speaking about the deal on Monday, McLeish said: “It will be good to sign him because he has got a bit of quality and class as a footballer. His delivery at set-pieces is excellent as well. He is a natural footballer.”

Bentley has won seven caps for England, the last of those coming against the Czech Republic in August 2008.
