Tottenham head coach Juande Ramos dropped David Bentley from the squad to face Udinese at Stadio Friuli in the Uefa Cup this evening (6.10pm), less than 24 hours after winger claimed players had little idea what they were doing.
The Group D clash against the side second in Serie A offers a distraction from Spurs' domestic troubles, with Ramos' men at the bottom of the Barclays Premier League.
Ledley King is also selected, effectively ruling him out of the league clash against Bolton on Sunday, while Luka Modric has been dropped for Jamie O'Hara and Benoit Assou-Ekotto replaces Bentley.
During their wretched start, Bentley has lost his place in the England squad and has also been played in a variety of different positions.
Bentley was billed as one of the finest right-wingers in England following his arrival from Blackburn in the summer for a deal starting at €21million - but the loss of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane meant he had to play as a support striker at times.
He has played all across the midfield and also had a stint at right-back.
The 24-year-old had a meeting with Ramos about playing in different positions and then insisted he was "fully behind him, 100 per cent" during an interview where he also admitted the club had become a laughing stock.
Then, on the eve of tonight's clash, Bentley was quoted by talkSPORT magazine as saying: "We've not been together; we didn't know where people were running, what people were doing. But I think we're slowly starting to get settled and people are becoming more confident."
