Don Givens has made just one change to the side that beat Spain 2-1 at the RSC last Friday night ahead of tomorrow’s under-21’s European Championships qualifier against Turkey at Turner’s Cross (7.45pm).

Shamrock Rovers defender Ian Bermingham will get his chance to shine at left back after being called in to the squad this morning in place of the injured Seamus Coleman (ankle) and Michael Liddle (groin).

"Turkey will be a technically very good team. They will be similar to Spain, but we showed last Friday that we can more than match teams of that calibre,” said Givens today.

“We are unbeaten in four matches, defeating Spain and Lithuania, and recording draws against Portugal and Germany, so we are hoping to keep that run going.

“This is a great group of players to work with and they are getting better by the game. If we perform at Turner's Cross on Tuesday in the same manner in which we performed against Spain last Friday, we can be confident of getting a good result.”

Bermingham joins Brendan Moloney, Eddie Nolan and Darren Dennehy in the backline, in front of goalkeeper Shane Redmond.

Galway United’s Jay O’Shea, who scored against Spain, starts in midfield, with the night’s other goal hero Alan Judge on the opposite wing.

The latter was “delighted” to get his first goal at this level last weekend.

“Cillian [Sheridan] did really well to cross it and it felt as though it took forever to get to me, but I struck it well and I was delighted to see it hit the back of the net,” he said.

“Results like that show what a good squad of players we have. We can take teams on, we're very disciplined in our approach, and we work very hard for each other."
