Bohemians have terminated Gareth Farrelly's contract following last night's 2-0 FAI Cup defeat to First Division Shamrock Rovers, in which the player-manager missed a penalty.
In a brief statement released this afternoon Bohemians wished Farrelly "the best of luck in his future endeavours."
Bohs are expected to announce an interim replacement later this afternoon, with midfileder Kevin Hunt widely believed to be getting the nod.
Farrelly teamed up with Bohs as player-manager in August 2004 but pressure has been mounting on him after 10 league defeats this season.
Bohs are currently sixth in the eircom Premier Division, a position not familiar to a club of its stature and its supporters, for whom their latest defeat to their bitter Dublin rivals will have hurt more than most.
