Midfielder Brennan struck six minutes into the second half to claim all three points and stretch their unbeaten run to 11 games.

At Turner's Cross, Cork took the lead through a Liam Kearney header after Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Barry Murphy flapped at Pat Sullivan's long throw in the 58th minute. However, Sean O'Connor rescued a point for the visitors with 10 minutes remaining.

UCD were held to a draw at home by Bray Wanderers. Patrick McWalter opened the scoring for in the 37th minute as the Students went in search of a priceless win at the Belfield Bowl.

They nearly emerged with nothing when Derek Foran grabbed the equaliser on the hour and Gavin Whelan edged Bray into the lead, but the points were shared when Mahon finished from the spot in the 84th minute.

Champions Drogheda United continued their poor run of form with a draw at home to Sligo Rovers.  A 90th minute penalty from Fahrudin Kudozovic rescued a point for Sligo after Stuart Byrne struck on the stroke of halftime.

A second half brace from Owen Morrison gave Derry the points against rivals Finn Harps in a result that keeps them in touch with the top two.
