Bolton have asked Real Sociedad for permission to speak to Chris Coleman, it was reported today.
The former Fulham and Wales manager has been in charge of the Spanish side since June.
Alan Smith, Coleman's adviser, told The Times: "Bolton have asked Real Sociedad for permission to speak to Chris.
"It's a very interesting proposition for him to return to the Premier League, but at the same time he is happy in Spain.
"We have already turned down an inquiry from another English club."
Bolton sacked Sammy Lee on Wednesday and yesterday named Archie Knox as caretaker manager.
The Trotters have also targeted Birmingham manager Steve Bruce, but the City board has refused permission for talks.
