Transfer News:Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has revealed that winger Gabriel Obertan is on the verge of signing for Manchester United.

The highly rated 20-year-old became a regular for Les Girondins at the age of just 17 but last season found chances hard to come by under former Red Devils defender Laurent Blanc.

The French under-21 international was loaned out to fellow Ligue 1 side Lorient for the second half of last season where he featured 15 times scoring just the one goal.

Arsenal, Inter and AC Milan are said to have been interested in the youngster but it appears United have won the race for his signature for an undisclosed fee.

"There is a very strong likelihood that the deal will go ahead," confirmed Triaud to L'Equipe.

"Manchester United want to sign him and, for our part, we would be delighted to see Gabriel playing for such a prestigious club.

"We will make the official announcement when the time is right,"

Peterlin close to Everton move

Everton are today expected to confirm the signing of 22-year-old American midfielder Anton Peterlin.

Peterlin will be manager David Moyes' first summer signing, after impressing on a 10-day trial last season, when he was able to attend the FA Cup victory over Middlesbrough.

The FA Cup finalists returned to training today with Peterlin declaring: "I am not sure how often miracles happen, but I will not squander this opportunity."

Moving from Ventura County Fusion for a nominal fee, he is expected to complete the details of a one-year contract.

Fusion play in the fourth tier of US football - the Premier Development League - but Moyes declared: "Anton really impressed myself and the coaching staff with his attitude and undoubted ability."

Peterlin added: "The trial period I was there was great. To play alongside some great names like Phil Neville, Tim Cahill and Tim Howard was an experience.

"Their poise on the ball was terrific and they demand the highest level out of your play every time out."

Everton's youngsters and non-internationals were back in training today, with those on international duty like Manchester City target Joleon Lescott not returning until next week.

Moyes took the squad to Scotland for a training camp near Edinburgh today, and a reserve XI will play at Bury on Friday.

Hull keen to sign Zamora

Hull have confirmed they want to sign Fulham striker Bobby Zamora.

The Tigers have admitted the former West Ham player is on a shortlist of six forwards they are interested in signing.

Zamora endured an indifferent season at Fulham last term following his arrival at Craven Cottage and the London outfit are thought to be open to offers for the striker.

Tigers chairman Paul Duffen has revealed any move for Zamora will depend on Fulham bringing in a replacement.

"We have an understanding with Fulham but nothing will happen unless they get a striker in," Duffen told Radio Humberside.
