Tonight's eircom League Premier Division clash between Bray Wanderers and Longford Town has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

A pitch inspection at the Carlisle Grounds was carried out at 10am, and officials deemed the surface unplayable following heavy downpours last night and this morning.

The game has yet to be rescheduled.

It is the second time since the season's start just a fortnight ago that Longford have had a game called off.

Their opening game with Sligo Rovers also fell by the wayside because of a waterlogged pitch.

All other fixtures in both the Premier and First Divisions go ahead although a handful of games first had to survive pitch inspections.

Waterford United's game with UCD at the RSC goes ahead following a 12pm inspection.

Dublin City, too, get the green light and host Drogheda United at Dalymount Park following a satisfactory 1pm inspection.

And despite some surface water on the Tolka Park pitch, the First Division clash between Shamrock Rovers and Galway United goes ahead following a 1pm inspection.

Supporters, officials and, indeed, players of Limerick FC were left to sweat it out the longest but following a 2pm inspection, the Hogan Park pitch was deemed playable to host Monaghan United.
