Bray Wanderers have guaranteed top flight football next season with a 3-2 win over Cobh Ramblers at the Carlisle Grounds this evening.
Eddie Gormley's side needed just a point to be sure of Premier Division football next season but, as promised by the manager, they went for the win and secured it through a goal from substitute Gary Cronin.
Bray began with intent and were 2-0 up thanks to a brace from Aidan O'Keeffe but Greg O'Halloran struck back for Cobh before Davin O'Nell curled his effort past Alan Gough to send the sides in level at the break.
With the game in the balance, however, a cheeky chipped attempt by Gareth Coughlan was palmed away by Anthony Fennelly, only for O'Neill to fire home the rebound.
Ramblers are now second from bottom after Finn Harps beat Drogheda United 2-1 thanks to two Stephen Parkhouse goals after Declan O'Brien had given the Paul Doolin's side the lead.
UCD remain bottom of the league after a 20th minute McGill goal sealed a win for champions Bohemians at the Belfield Bowl.
