Soccer:The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) have claimed talks of a potential European Championship warm-up game against Brittany in Nantes at the end of May are a "non-runner".

The story came to light after Rennes player Romain Danze tweeted a picture of a letter from the Bretagne Football Association (BFA) calling him up for a match between Brittany and the Republic of Ireland, to be played at Rennes’ Stade de la Beaujoire on Saturday May 26th.

Although not recognised by Fifa or Uefa, Brittany are sanctioned to play games by the French FA. The BFA have looked into the possibility of staging a four-team Celtic Nations Cup in 2015 involving the Republic of Ireland, although an FAI spokesperson said no talks have been undertaken on the matter.

Brittany is one of six Celtic regions in western Europe. Amongst the players they can call on are French internationals Yoann Gourcuff and Jeremy Toulalan.
