Hull boss Phil Brown admits he will find it "difficult" to stop Michael Turner from joining Liverpool. Reds manager Rafael Benitez has been tracking the central defender since the opening weeks of last season but the pair disagree on the player’s value.
Turner has impressed hugely since the Tigers' promotion to the top-flight, and played a huge part in their Premier League survival last term.
Benitez, who has money available following the recent sale of Xabi Alonso, is yet to replace Sami Hyypia, who departed the club at the end of last season.
Abd now a move for Turner looks likely, although Brown is doing everything he can to put the Spaniard off.
"I have spoken to Rafa Benitez about Michael, but his assessment and valuation of the boy is well below ours," he said.
"I would dearly love to keep Michael here with us, but I know that is going to be difficult.
"When one of the top clubs in Europe come calling, a young man's head can be turned."
Brown is also trying to add to his squad and is optimistic about landing Senegal striker Henri Camara.
The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Wigan and has been training with the Tigers in pre-season.
He featured in Sunday's friendly against Aberdeen and is due to hold talks with Brown regarding a deal at the KC Stadium.
Brown has spent all summer trying to improve his attacking options and is hopeful Camara will join Jozy Altidore in accepting a move to the Tigers.
"I was impressed with certain things that Henri provided," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail about Camara's performance against Aberdeen.
"He's got something different that we haven't got and if we can sit down and thrash out a deal, then there's a possibility he could be a Hull City player.
"I'm sure we'll do that in the next 48 hours."
Meanwhile, Brown has expressed his disappointment at missing out on the signing of Habib Beye after the full-back turned down Hull in favour of joining Aston Villa.
"I was disappointed because we were that close," added Brown. "We'd agreed terms with him and the club, but there was something niggling in the back of my mind when he wasn't signing.
"Lo and behold, it was proved by the fact he went to Aston Villa."
