Callum O’Dowda recalled to Ireland squad in place of injured James Collins

Bristol City man receives first international call-up since March ahead of final qualifiers

Callum O’Dowda has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

The move comes as Cardiff striker James Collins has been ruled out of the upcoming clashes with Portugal and Luxembourg through injury.

This is the first time Bristol City man O’Dowda has joined up with the Ireland squad since March.

Ireland play the final two qualifiers of their World Cup campaign this week, starting on Thursday as Portugal visit the Aviva Stadium. Stephen Kenny’s squad will then travel to Luxembourg on Sunday. Both games kick off at 7.45pm.
