Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has dismissed speculation linking him with a £2million summer swoop for Everton striker James Beattie.
The 29-year-old has endured a frustrating season at Goodison Park, making only 15 Premiership starts, with youngsters Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan enjoying decent spells in the first team.
But Strachan, who worked with Beattie at Southampton, said on the club's official website: "I know James, but if I was going to do something with him I would talk to his manager, Davie Moyes, first.
"There's a lot of names, a comprehensive list and, for all I know, James Beattie's name might be there somewhere."
