Scottish review:Celtic substitute Maciej Zurawski scored the only goal of the game against Aberdeen to open the gap at the top of the Bank of Scotland Premier League to 16 points.
The home side had turned in a poor performance until the Polish striker replaced Thomas Gravesen in the 67th minute and grabbed the winner with a 12-yard drive just five minutes later.
Celtic were far from convincing though and had goalkeeper Artur Boruc to thank for the three points after he brilliantly saved a point-blank header from Aberdeen striker Lee Miller with only a minute remaining.
Zurawski's vital contribution came from a Lee Naylor cross from the left that evaded the Dons defence and arrived at the feet of the Polish striker, who lashed his shot past Langfield.
Zurawski then turned provider when he crossed to the back post for Kenny Miller, but the Scotland striker was stretching and failed to capitalise.
Boruc then saved all three points when he brilliantly tipped a Lee Miller header from close range over the bar.
Elsewhere a Hearts side missing Steven Pressley fought back for a 2-2 draw in a pulsating match with St Mirren at Love Street.
Saulius Mikoliunas gave Hearts head coach Valdas Ivanauskas the perfect welcome back to the dug-out with a first-minute goal but the recalled Stewart Kean soon turned the game with two goals in three minutes.
Marius Zaliukas headed Hearts level just after the break and the game was perfectly poised when Hearts skipper Paul Hartley was sent off after receiving two of the game's eight yellow cards.
Hibernian striker Steven Fletcher spared team-mate Shelton Martis' blushes as he sealed a 2-1 win against an organised Dundee United side.
Dutchman Martis had given the visitors a 25th-minute lead after scoring a bizarre own goal but Rob Jones levelled seconds before the break.
Fletcher completed the comeback in the 73rd minute with a well-executed strike from an angle inside the box.
A 90th-minute penalty from Richie Foran earned Motherwell a dramatic 1-0 victory over Inverness in a game which looked certain to end in a stalemate.
Both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances, although Barry Wilson should have opened the scoring for the Highlanders just before half-time.
But 'Well sealed the points in the closing seconds when, after Darren Dods was dismissed for bringing down Scott McDonald in the area, Foran netted from the spot.
In the day's other game Dunfermline were cast further adrift at the bottom of the table after suffering a 5-1 thrashing at Kilmarnock.
New boss Stephen Kenny may be desperate to record his first win since taking over the reins at East End Park but he was left trying to pick up the pieces of his team's shattered confidence instead.
Gordon Greer grabbed an early opener - which was cancelled out by Stevie Crawford - before Paul Di Giacomo and Colin Nish helped themselves to a double each.
