Dunfermline 1 Celtic 8: Maciej Zurawski found the net four times as Celtic thrashed relegation strugglers Dunfermline by winning 8-1 to march 13 points clear of Hearts at the top of the SPL.
Artur Boruc cost the Hoops the lead as his mistake allowed Andy Tod to cancel out Stilian Petrov’s early opener. But John Hartson put Celtic ahead again before Old Firm match-winner Zurawski took charge.
The champions-elect then continued to steam roll their CIS Insurance Cup final opponents with Shaun Maloney hitting the net with a stunning volley and skipper Neil Lennon grabbing a rare goal in the 81st minute to ensure the biggest cheer of the day.
Zurawski then made Celtic the first team to score eight goals in the SPL which took his season’s tally to 15, with eight in seven games.
Celtic have 67 points from 27 games with Hearts second courtesy of their 3-0 home win over Motherwell yesterday. Champions Rangers ended their Hibernian hoodoo with a 2-0 home victory yesterday, their first in four league and cup tussles this season, to go third with 46 points.
