Soccer – Celtic 4 Dundee United 1:Celtic moved back to within one point of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League with a comfortable 4-1 win over Dundee United at Parkhead.
Gary Hooper's goal after 23 minutes gave Neil Lennon's side the interval lead and second-half strikes from Beram Kayal, Kris Commons and Daryl Murphy sealed the win while United substitute Johnny Russell grabbed a consolation for the Taysiders.
The Hoops could go top of the table on Wednesday when they travel to Inverness for their game in hand over the Ibrox men.
Lennon said: "I thought it could have been more than four, comfortably. There were some great performances from some individual players but the team as a whole was superb.
"We are possibly disappointed with the goal we conceded."
Goalscorer Commons said: "Being with these players week in week out helps me massively, I get more chances than before.
"We are disappointed we didn't keep a clean sheet, but we have a great set of lads at the back and if we keep four more clean sheets we have a great chance."
Captain Scott Brown added: "It was a great win, I thought the lads played really well."
