Charlton bid for Bougherra rejected

Charlton manager Alan Pardew has had a £1

Charlton manager Alan Pardew has had a £1.3million bid for Sheffield Wednesday defender Madjid Bougherra rejected by the Championship club.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form for the Owls since moving to Hillsborough in the summer and has been an ever-present in their Championship campaign, scoring twice.

Sheffield Wednesday chief executive Kaven Walker confirmed Charlton have tabled an offer for the Algeria international but it was turned down.

He said: "We have rejected a £1.3million offer from Charlton Athletic for Madjid Bougherra. He is not for sale."

Sevilla sporting director Ramon Rodriguez 'Monchi' says Charlton are leading the race to sign unsettled striker Kepa Blanco.

The 22-year-old is a reported target of several Premiership clubs but it appears the Addicks are in pole position to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

Monchi said: "French clubs, English clubs and German clubs have shown an interest in Kepa and one of those clubs is Charlton Athletic.

"We have not taken a decision yet but all could be sorted later today."

Blanco is keen to quit the Primera Liga leaders after struggling to hold down a regular first-team place this term.

And his agent Alvaro Torres hinted a switch may be in the offing.

"We have received one official written offer from a Premier League club," Torres said. "We have forwarded the offer, which is a loan deal, to Sevilla and we will have to wait for their decision."

Blanco has scored three goals in nine league appearances for Sevilla this term.

Newcastle forward Albert Luque is keen on a move to PSV Eindhoven, according to his agent.

The former Deportivo La Coruna player has struggled since joining the Magpies for £9.5 million in 2005, and wants a move to resurrect his career.

"PSV are presently the most interesting option," his agent Francis Martin told Dutch reporters. "He would like to play at the highest level again, at PSV."

According to Martin, the Dutch champions have opened negotiations over a possible loan deal for the 28-year-old.

Luque has struggled to make even the bench this season at Newcastle despite a return to full fitness.
