Premier League review:Chelsea fought back from going behind to a Darren Bent goal to claim their second win of the season against Sunderland, while Mick McCarthy and Wolves got their first ever thanks to an early strike from Republic of Ireland international Andy Keogh.
Darren Bent took just 18 minutes to scores his second of the new campaign at the Stadium of Light.
The new arrival from Spurs finished calmly after Kenwyne Jones’s effort deflected into his path but the goal was completely against the run of play.
Chelsea controlled the rest of the half but failed to the get the breakthrough and were trailing at halftime.
It wasn’t long until they were level though and it came through German international Michael Ballack, who finished well after Frank Lamaprd’s corner was directed into his path.
Lampard then pushed Chelsea into the lead from the penalty spot after Didier Drogba was taken down by McCartney.
Deco put the icing on a convincing win with a stunning strike from 18 yards before being replaced by Andriy Shevchenko.
At the JJB Stadium, Keogh signalled his intent by striking the post before rising to glance a sixth minute free kick in off a post.
Keogh should also have had a penalty 11 minutes after half-time but was booked for diving after going down under Titus Bramble's challenge.
However, his goal was enough to give Mick McCarthy's side their first away victory in 30 Barclays Premier League matches.
It left Wigan manager Roberto Martinez to work out how to find a way to get his side to turn their vastly superior second-half possession into clear-cut chances.
