Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood hopes Ashley Cole will "get his head right" following the apparent collapse of his move to Chelsea.
The England left-back looks unlikely to cross London to join the Premiership champions after the clubs failed to agree a fee with tomorrow's transfer deadline edging closer.
The protracted saga has been running for more than 12 months and Hill-Wood admits he hopes Cole can dedicate himself to Arsenal and move on.
"He is a very good player and if he is going to stay I hope his attitude is
right. If he is going to be miserable and sour there is no point. Hopefully he will get his head right."
The Gunners supremo branded the ongoing transfer wrangle as "ridiculous", admitting he does not know whether Cole's move to Chelsea could still happen.
"I don't know is the answer," he told the Daily Star. "It's rather ridiculous really. I have no idea."
